![]() ![]() Has anyone tried this? I assume you would have the same issue with deploying a shortcut to any Modern windows 10 app. What I do know, is if you manually make a short cut to here "%windir%\explorer.exe shell:Appsfolder\Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe!MicrosoftEdge" it will create a Edge Shortcut, You can then change the icon to here "%windir%\SystemApps\Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe\MicrosoftEdge.exe" to get the correct icon.īut when deploying this through GPO, it never seems to work. I have also already set the group policy - 'Prevent desktop shortcut creation upon install default' for Administrative Templates\Microsoft Edge Update\Applications to 'disabled' to see if that would work. Problem is the Edge browser is a Modern App, so it doesn't launch the same way as the other browsers, in fact, you can't even launch it when double clicking on the exe file for it. but when I log into a computer after the sequence is done, there is still a shortcut on c:\users\public\desktop that goes to the new Edge. I had no problem adding IE, Chrome, and Firefox to the students desktops using a group policy (User Config.>Preferences>Windows Settigns>Shortcuts), but I cant seem to find a way for it to add the Edge browser. ![]() Hey guys, I was sent the task of adding browser shortcuts to all students desktops.
